When does my company have to report under the NSRF?
It depends on your group. Group 1 (Main Market issuers with market capitalisation of RM2 billion and above) applies IFRS S1 and S2 from financial years beginning 1 January 2025. Group 2 (other Main Market issuers) starts from 2026. Group 3 (ACE Market issuers and non-listed companies with annual revenue of RM2 billion and above) starts from 2027. The programme helps your team confirm its group, first reporting year and the transition reliefs it can apply.
What is the difference between IFRS S1 and IFRS S2?
IFRS S1 sets the general requirements for disclosing sustainability-related risks and opportunities that could affect a company's cash flows, access to finance or cost of capital. IFRS S2 applies those requirements to climate, including greenhouse gas emissions, climate risk and scenario analysis. Both are organised around four pillars: governance, strategy, risk management, and metrics and targets.
Is the NSRF Reporting Lab HRD Corp claimable?
Yes. It runs as two full days of 7 training hours each (14 hours in total), delivered by an HRD Corp Accredited Trainer, and is claimable for eligible Malaysian employers subject to the applicable claim requirements and your available levy.
Can the training use our own sustainability report?
Yes. For private in-house runs, selected exercises can use your existing sustainability report, reporting templates, gap assessments or internal processes, so the gap assessment your team produces is about your company, not a case study.
