How Much Does AI Training Cost in Malaysia?

AI training prices in Malaysia depend on whether you are buying a seat on a public course or a session for your team. Groove currently runs private team programmes, with no public classes. A one-day AI for Workplace Productivity programme is RM 7,200 per group on the current offer, with a list price of RM 10,500. As a public-course example, AITraining2U lists its two-day AI Vibe Coding course at RM 3,200 per participant for self-funded bookings, or RM 3,500 under its HRDC-claimable option, both plus 8% SST. The linked examples below show exactly which course, duration and pricing unit each figure covers.
Before comparing two prices, check what each one buys: one seat or the whole group, for one day or the full programme.
HRD Corp claim limits are a separate part of the budget. The examples below use the January 2026 Allowable Cost Matrix for general courses. Funding is subject to the registered programme, employer eligibility, available levy balance, attendance and HRD Corp approval. A published ceiling does not guarantee reimbursement.
What providers charge
These are specific published examples, checked on 29 October 2026. They are not a market-wide price range, and the courses cover different topics and durations. AITraining2U provides the public-class examples; Groove provides private training for company teams, onsite or online.
| Provider and course | Format and duration | Published fee | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| AITraining2U: AI Vibe Coding | Public course, 2 days | RM 3,200 per participant self-funded; RM 3,500 under the provider's HRDC-claimable option | Both prices add 8% SST. Private corporate sessions require a quotation. |
| AITraining2U: Claude Code, Cowork & Multi Agent Orchestration | Public course, 2 days | RM 3,200 per participant self-funded; RM 3,500 under the provider's HRDC-claimable option | Both prices add 8% SST. Participants need their own Claude Pro or Claude Max subscription. |
| Groove: AI for Workplace Productivity | Private team programme, 1 day, onsite or online | RM 7,200 per group, current offer; list price RM 10,500 | Up to 25 participants. Confirm the offer and quotation terms when booking. |
| Groove: Claude at Work | Private team programme, 1 day, onsite or online | RM 10,500 per group | Up to 25 participants. Intermediate level; each participant needs Claude Pro. |
A two-day public course and a one-day team programme are different purchases. Compare the duration, group size, subject, exercises and included support alongside the fee. Ask what participants will have working by the end of the course. Groove confirms software licences, travel and applicable taxes in the quotation; these figures should not be read as all-inclusive totals.

What HRD Corp's cost matrix covers
The Allowable Cost Matrix (ACM) sets eligible cost categories and ceilings. For general courses, it lists a maximum of RM 10,500 per group for a full in-house training day of at least seven training hours, including remote online delivery. Other course categories have different rules; an AI course is not automatically approved as a focus-area course.
| Item | General-course ceiling or condition (ACM, January 2026) |
|---|---|
| In-house course fee, full day (7 training hours) | RM 10,500 per group per day |
| In-house course fee, half day (4 training hours) | RM 6,000 per group |
| Fewer than 5 trainees | Course-fee ceiling is prorated; the full-day example is RM 10,500 ÷ 5 = RM 2,100 per eligible trainee |
| Public course fee, full day | RM 1,750 per participant per day |
| Public course fee, half day (4 training hours) | RM 1,000 per participant |
| Meal allowance, where eligible | Up to RM 100 per trainee per day (RM 50 for a half day); not combined with a trainee allowance |
| Trainee allowance, eligible travel below 100 km | Lower of RM 250 per trainee per day or the actual amount paid by the employer |
| Trainee allowance, eligible travel of 100 km or more | Lower of RM 500 per trainee per day or the actual amount paid, including accommodation |
| Consumable training materials | RM 100 per group without an itemised quotation or invoice; amounts above this require an itemised breakdown |
| Internal trainer allowance (qualified employees teaching) | Up to RM 1,400 per day per group; prorated below 5 trainees |
| SST | Claimable, within the maximum |
| Upfront payment to provider under HCC | Employer may request up to 30% during the grant application, payable upon approval |
A full training day requires at least seven training hours; breaks are not training hours. Confirm the approved calculation with HRD Corp for a shorter or mixed-duration schedule. The general-course minimum group size is two trainees face-to-face or one for remote online training; the ceiling is prorated below five.
Allowances depend on the training location and travel circumstances. Staff training at their usual employer premises do not automatically qualify for a trainee allowance. Eligible half-day trainee allowances are reduced, and employers may claim either a meal allowance or a trainee allowance, subject to location—not both. Check the supporting-document and attendance requirements before applying.
The approved claim may be lower than the published ceiling. Confirm the exact registered programme and obtain the required grant approval before relying on funding.
Per day or per head: the same money
A per-day price looks expensive next to a per-head price until you divide.
| Group size | RM 10,500 per day works out to |
|---|---|
| 10 participants | RM 1,050 per head per day |
| 20 participants | RM 525 per head per day |
| 25 participants | RM 420 per head per day |
At these illustrative prices, RM 10,500 divided among seven or more participants is less than RM 1,750 per person. This compares a group fee with a public-course claim ceiling, not two equivalent course quotations. Actual value depends on the programme, duration, group size, included support and additional costs. In-house training can also be scoped around your team's tasks and approved sample documents.
What Groove charges
Groove currently offers private training for company teams, delivered onsite or online. We do not currently run public classes.
| Programme | Price | HRD Corp funding |
|---|---|---|
| AI for Workplace Productivity (1 day) | RM 7,200 per group, current offer (list price RM 10,500) | Subject to eligibility and approval |
| AI for GRC Professionals (1 day) | RM 10,500 per group | Subject to eligibility and approval |
| Claude at Work (1 day) | RM 10,500 per group | Subject to eligibility and approval |
| Other programmes (Microsoft 365 Copilot, AI-assisted video, Codex for e-commerce, financial services, vibe coding for E&E; 1 to 2 days) | Quoted per scope | Confirm the exact programme and applicable funding conditions during scoping |
| AI Operations Audit (2-week diagnostic, not training) | RM 5,000 to RM 8,000 | Quoted separately from training; do not assume training-grant coverage |
The Workplace Productivity, GRC and Claude at Work programmes accommodate up to 25 participants per run. Other programmes have their own group limits. Larger teams need a separately scoped delivery plan and quotation. Software licences, travel and applicable taxes are confirmed in the quotation. Confirm the current offer and exact registered programme before applying for funding.
Costs to budget separately
Groove scopes implementation, consulting and its AI Operations Audit separately from course delivery. Budget for these separately rather than assuming that a training grant covers them.
Participant subscriptions, such as Claude Pro or Microsoft 365 Copilot licences, are confirmed separately in the quotation. Budget for them unless a written quotation and the applicable funding approval explicitly include them. Keep training fees, software and implementation work clearly itemised so your HR team can match each cost to its approved claim category.
